Hello World
Welcome to my shiny, new vanity site. This site will serve as a resume as well as hosting some ramblings on technical things. I will probably dig into how it’s setup and some basics on how to use Hugo and Netlify to create a site similar to this as I am really enjoying the process and learning a lot. I probably won’t post much but when I do it’ll be reserved for techical bits and bobs rather than personal musings. I’ve got quite a few projects that I work on, albeit sporadically, that I would love to post about and use this space as a rubber duck.
As the main page says, I am not looking for work and am quite happy where I am. It is a somewhat boring but highly technical position for a company that treats its employees like human beings. Stability is something I highly value and this position offers that in spades.
You may wonder why I am updating a vanity site while I am not looking for work. The answer is simple: I wanted to learn Hugo and I’ve had a vanity site for a long time so it seemed like a good place to start. I have a constant desire to learn and this scratches that specific itch. I also wanted a place I could muse about technical stuff without maintaining a Wordpress site like I have done for many years. I realized that I do a lot more than is reflected on my resume and this gives me a place to showcase my amateurish Python efforts as well as my crazy home networking.
Hugo makes use of Markdown and I love the elegance and ease of use but also like using an editor so I am looking for a Markdown editor with spell checking that runs on Linux so my posts won’t riddled with typos. If I find a good one I’ll post about it. Right now I am using Marker and while it works it is very basic and there are web based options that offer a more robust feature set but this is also my first foray into using a Markdown editor so some jumping around is to be expected.
